| This is the second issue of Entrée. We have received a lot of positive feedback on the first issue and I hope that many of you will continue to tell us your opinion of Entrée. This is the only way for the editorial team to find out if we are on the right track and, if not, how we can improve Entrée and make it what we want it to be; a source of interesting information covering all aspects of entrances and a source of inspiration for architects. In this issue of Entrée you can read an interview with the Danish architect Kim Herforth Nielsen, partner and principal architect of the well-known architect firm 3XN. Nielsen tells about his concert hall in Amsterdam and stands up for the importance of the entrance in building design and how it shows the way to the public. Following this interview you will find articles dealing with some of the latest developments in entrance technology. The Twintour is a very interesting revolving door concept for high capacity entrances. As you will see, the innovative idea behind this concept results in remarkable advantages. You can also read about StereoVision, a new dimension in security access systems that truly prevents piggybacking in high security doors. This issue ends with reference projects from China, Denmark, Germany and many other countries, that will show you how fellow architects deal with entrances in the design of their buildings. I hope you will enjoy reading this issue. Entrée! Richard A. Eshuis |
