Innovative revolving door concept

In the design of buildings, entrances have always played an important role. They are usually much more elaborate than roofs, walls and windows. The design of the entrance should create a powerful first impression while enhancing the identity of the building. However, not only the appearance of the entrance is important; it should also offer ease of access to visitors as any impediment to traffic flow at the entrance creates a poor impression. The Twintour, an innovative revolving door concept, provides true high capacity and ease of access into a building. It has all the necessary aesthetic and engineering characteristics to meet the most demanding design and capacity requirements, making this unique product a welcome alternative to established revolving door offerings.

THE IDEA

The development of this comfortable and truly high capacity door originates from an innovative idea. The Twintour principle is based on splitting a 4-wing revolving door into two or more 2-wing revolving doors connected via a corridor. Thanks to the synchronous drive, each 2-wing door set rotates at right angles to the other, ensuring the entrance is always draught proof.

ADVANTAGES OF SPLITTING

Splitting makes it possible to combine the best features of more traditional door offerings, such as two, three and four wing revolving doors and sliding doors. As with other revolving doors, the Twintour is always open, yet always closed. Open for people to pass through, but closed to all the dirt, noise and weather outside. This also means that a Twintour can produce significant energy saving benefits by reducing the energy that would be used on heating or cooling a building if the entrance were not permanently ‘closed’. Splitting the door set also makes it possible to combine the large throat opening of a 4-wing revolving door with the maximum segment size of a 2-wing door, allowing the Twintour to easily and comfortably accommodate large objects such as shopping and luggage trolleys, stretchers and wheel chairs. As with sliding doors, this innovative revolving door concept provides straight-line access and ease of use. All these advantages together create an entrance with unprecedented passage capacity, whilst maintaining the full environmental benefits of a revolving door.

ENTRANCE DESIGN

The Twintour can be used as an element to provide a visual emphasis to a building, giving the entrance the important role it should have in building design. It has many options in design and surface finish, making it possible to match or complement a wide variety of interiors and facades. Moreover, the Twintour is an exceptionally flexible concept that offers many possible entrance configurations allowing you to design a custom-made entrance solution for almost any building.
